Quotations and estimates

Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date issued and are based on the scope agreed at the time. An estimate is a considered guide rather than a fixed price. Prices assume reasonable access to the working area and a supply that meets current standards.

Accepting a quotation

A contract begins when you accept a quotation in writing, by email or in person, or when we start work at your request. Where a deposit is stated, work is scheduled once it has been received.

Variations and extra work

If site conditions differ from those quoted, or you ask for additional work, we will price the change and confirm it with you in writing before continuing. Unforeseen items such as concealed wiring faults, asbestos or structural issues may affect price and timescale.

Access and site conditions

You agree to provide safe access at the agreed times, a working supply of electricity and water where needed, and to clear or protect furnishings in the working area. Where access is refused or unavailable, we may charge a reasonable call-out fee.

Timescales

Dates given are our best estimate. We will tell you promptly if a delay arises through supply shortages, weather, other trades on site or matters outside our control.

Payment

Invoices are payable within 14 days of issue unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Larger projects may be invoiced in stages. We may charge interest on overdue amounts at 4% above the Bank of England base rate, and recover reasonable costs of collection.

Certification and standards

Work is carried out in line with BS 7671 and, where notifiable, is registered under the relevant competent person scheme. Electrical certificates are issued once the work has been completed and paid for in full.

Guarantee

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. Materials and equipment carry the manufacturer's warranty, which we will pass on to you. The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, misuse, alterations by others, or faults in existing installations we have not been asked to replace.

Cancellation

Where you are a consumer and the contract was agreed away from our premises, you have 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. If you ask us to start within that period and then cancel, we may charge for the work already carried out and materials ordered. To cancel, contact us using the details above.

Your responsibilities

Please tell us about anything that affects the work, including hidden services, previous alterations, planning or listed building restrictions, and any known defects in the installation.

Liability

We are responsible for loss or damage we cause by failing to use reasonable care and skill, and we hold public liability insurance. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, for damage to items you have not told us about behind walls or floors, or for business losses where the work relates to your business. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Complaints

If something is not right, contact us and we will investigate and respond within 14 days. We aim to resolve every complaint fairly and without charge where the fault is ours.
